This week has been super productive. The three of us started the EDA while Elizabeth works on the web app. We have decided to narrow down the data for the surveys and use a random 1,000 instead of all 3,966 deals. We will all continue on these paths until we are able to send out the survey.

Meanwhile, we are also starting to prepare for a small presentation we are giving next weekend at the PME conference. This will help us get in some practice for the conference we are planning on attending in April.

We have made a lot of progress since the start of semester, and we will continue to do so. Next week we plan on completing the EDA, and in the coming weeks Elizabeth hopes to finish the web app so we can collect surveys and start running through the data.

Until next time,

Olivia

We continue to push through the programming aspect of the project. We were given the task of doing the EDA portion of the programming aspect. At first we had a little trouble as there was a lot of information inside other information, so trying to get specific data was tricky. After acquiring some help, we were able to understand how to call a specific data set.

We recently sent our abstract to a conference in Georgia and it got accepted! We set aside some time this meeting to talk about the conference and try to organize everything. Next week we will continue to work on organizing the data and creating the survey.

Until next time,

We did not meet this week due to the bitter cold temperatures in the area. Out university actually cancelled classes two days in a row, which is a very rare thing. However, even though we didn’t meet, we are still trying to figure out the details and how we are going to accomplish all of goals with the survey we want to send out.

Elizabeth, the programming expert in the group, has been working diligently on the survey site. We have a lot of data and a lot to accomplish, but we are slowly on our way.

Week two, still trying to get back into the swing of things. We are meeting today to talk about our goals and the next actions we need to take. We definitely need to rely heavily on the programming portion of the research as we need to develop our website that will be the location of the survey.

We have collected our deals that we needed and we have started creating a way to display this survey.

We are still getting back into things so there is not much to write about yet. Next week should be more informative.

Until next time,

December Blog

Happy Holidays! We have had a month off for the end of the semester, but the new semester will be starting up soon. Before our time off, and during, we each individually did some work. We submitted our abstract to a conference that we are interested in participating in, and we also started thinking about possible designs for our website type survey we are going to be sending out. Over break, we have started to think about our presentations at the conference if we do get accepted.

The semester starts back up again on the 14th, and our meetings will also start back up that week. We are starting to get into a more involved stage and I am excited to see where it takes us.

While the break has been nice, I am ready to get back into the swing of things.

Until next time,

After a nice, but very short, Thanksgiving break, we are continuing our research. We are meeting today to talk about our next steps and organize our thoughts.

In the coming weeks, I believe that we will be creating a little questionnaire  to send out to people where they can either like or dislike an item and from there we will gather our information and apply it to the program.

My next blog post will be more thorough as we will have talked about all of this already. Right now I am basically predicting what we will be doing, since we took last week off for the holiday. Hopefully more information is coming!

Until next time,

Olivia
